What is the difference in having a ceiling fan installed close to the ceiling versus on a downrod—I have seen both ways.

A: In tall-ceilinged spaces, fans are dropped to bring air movement closer to the occupants. In spaces with lower ceilings, it’s important to install a model that uses shorter mounts to prevent unwanted injury or harm to persons or the fan. Bamboo might be grass, but it sure won’t feel good if it hits you on the head!
